John Morris is a dancer, educator and teaching artist.
John’s varied background informs his current practice. He studied circus arts and dance in college, combining his love of movement with a fascination for the workings of the mind, while earning a degree in psychology and a minor in dance.
After traveling the United States as a mime and street performer, he relocated to New York City to pursue dance as a career.
John performed, choreographed and taught dance for more than two decades. During that time, he earned a masters degree from Teachers College, Columbia University, in dance and dance education. His studies led him to research the creative process, and he published a portion of his findings in: “Creativity Across Domains: Faces of the Muse.”
Additionally, he has a background in large-scale arts assessment and creativity research.
Born and raised in Maine, John has recently returned after living in New York City for many years, as well as spending four years in the Shetland Islands in the UK.
When not focused on dance, John works as a personal development coach.
